Throw to Win: Excellence in Athleticism at AICS Throwball 2022
On 13 December 2022, St. Dominic’s School, Mariashram, Badakabail, served as the proud host of the AICS (Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools) Interschool Boys Throwball Tournament. Titled “Throw to Win 2022-23,” the event brought together sixteen premier schools from the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, transforming the school grounds into a hub of high-energy competition and strategic gameplay.
The tournament was more than a sporting event; it was a manifestation of the school’s commitment to Excellence and Holistic Growth. By facilitating such high-calibre regional meets, the institution continues to align with CBSE’s Physical Education standards, promoting physical fitness, discipline, and the spirit of healthy rivalry.
Event Highlights and Dignitaries
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a majestic march led by the school band, escorting the Chief Guest, Mrs Lily Pais (District President of Karnataka P.ED Committee). The dignitaries, including the Principal Rev. Fr. Francis Arun D’Souza, the Correspondent Rev. Fr. Reginald Dmello, and the Financial Administrator Rev. Fr. Sunil Christopher D’Souza, participated in the traditional lighting of the lamp.

The Official Kick-off: Mrs Lily Pais declared the tournament open by symbolically throwing the ball into the court, encouraging players to maintain “mental stillness and swiftness.”
The Athlete’s Pledge: Master Jeevith Kumar, the Sports Captain, led the oath-taking ceremony, reinforcing the values of integrity and fair play.
Valedictory Ceremony: The closing programme, graced by Mrs Julie T. J. (Principal of B.R.M.P. School), celebrated the participants’ resilience and hope.
