On 2nd October 2025, St. Dominic’s School, Bantwal, commemorated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a profound sense of reverence and dedication. The celebration served as a powerful reminder of the values of Satya (Truth) and Ahimsa (Non-violence), which remain central to the institution’s mission of nurturing ethically grounded and socially responsible citizens.
The day’s proceedings began with a solemn floral tribute to the portrait of the Father of the Nation. This was followed by a peaceful assembly that reflected the simplicity and spiritual depth associated with the life of Gandhiji.

The celebration integrated cultural tributes with practical community service:
All-Faith Prayer: A serene session featuring the recitation of Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans, including Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, fostered an atmosphere of universal peace.
Thematic Enactments: Students portrayed pivotal moments from the Indian Freedom Struggle, such as the Dandi March, bringing history to life for their peers.
Shramdaan (Service through Labour): In the spirit of self-reliance, students and staff participated in a campus-wide cleanliness drive, honouring Gandhiji’s belief that “cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
Tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri: The school also paid homage to the former Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, on his birth anniversary, drawing inspiration from his simplicity and the slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.”
In alignment with CBSE’s emphasis on value-based education, the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations at St. Dominic’s School were designed to instil Discipline and a spirit of Seva (Service). By participating in Shramdaan, students actively engaged with the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative, learning that true leadership begins with humility and hard work. The institution remains committed to ensuring that these Gandhian ideals are not just remembered for a day but are woven into the very fabric of the students’ character building.
